The Myles Scully Division #1 was honored to welcome NYS President Charles McLean (center) to the third annual “Respect Life Week” held in the City of Yonkers on January 24th 2011. The event was sponsored by Yonkers Mayor Philip A. Amicone, an Associate member of Division #1, and a politician who has been an outspoken advocate defending the rights of the unborn. Yonkers is the only municipality in the State of New York to commemorate Respect Life Week. The NYS Board honored Mayor Amicone last summer for his efforts with it’s first annual Right to Life Award which was presented at their State Convention Awards Dinner.

Respect Life Sunday: October 4, 2015

The Archdiocese of New York marked Respect Life Sunday with a special mass which had over 95 brother and sister Hibernians in attendance. The A.O.H. in conjunction with the Sisters of Life were warmly greeted by Archbishop Timothy Dolan, who said ” All life is sacred, from the fragile baby in the womb, to grandma in a hospice”.

The October 4th mass was celebrated by the Rector of St. Patrick’s, Msgr. Robert T. Ritchie who told the congregation of the great contributions of the A.O.H. in his homily. He highlighted the Order’s defense of the church as well as it’s outspoken advocacy for the rights of the unborn. The Cathedral was presented a rendering of the famous lithograph showing the A.O.H. defending St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral. We would like to thank all of our brother and sister Hibernians who helped make this event a success, and look forward to having an even bigger turnout next year!
